Phoenix Rising
Artist: Karsh Kale
Album: Cinema
Year: 2011
: Obviously, I was sold on this album by the cover art -- which I think is SO ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, ah. I downloaded this almost a year ago, unzipped it a couple weeks ago, have been love love loving it since. Karsh Kale [Kursh Kah-lay] is awesome: Indian-inspired electronica. Lots of stunning, sweeping instrumentals, filled with twisting melodies that remind me of 65daysofstatic's more instrumentative work. It's the perfect album to listen to while reading something vibrant.

I kind of hesitated on posting this song because there's something about it (absent from the rest of the album) which reminds me of another band I love and will eventually post here, but I kept coming back to it because A) I completely adore it, B) it inspires me ("I try to love where I hate", &c), and C) it verbalizes a lot of things I'm not quite able to, mainly about perspective --- the topic of the moment, i.e. how far away are those shooting stars, really -- and what do we see in people that they don't see in themselves?

So (aside from a few inapplicable lines around 2:50),
this one's literally for you!
