1) I fucking love this song. It is going to be on the first mix cd I have made in ages (figured I should put that burner on my work computer to good use). Aside: making a mix cd...it's such a complete form of expression for me. Not only because of the way I feel when I'm piecing together a mix (truly an unparalleled experience), but also the things I am able to convey...not just because I relate to the lyrics, but because of the music itself and what it makes me think and feel.
2) This post is when I appreciated the fact that this community has given me...or enhanced? patience. Some People Have Real Problems is a classic example of when I download an album, get stuck on one song (in this case, the hidden track) and don't really progress past that. Sure, I'll give the entire thing a few listens, but it doesn't...stick. Academia pulled me back to this album, made me listen with more attuned ears. It's funny, I think that sometimes I'm not ready for a particular album when it first comes out, or when I first come across it...but in that rediscovery...it's like I realize that something in me has changed and I'm open to listening to it.
3) I love the creepy cadence (I'm totally not using that word correctly, but it's what comes to mind) of this song. This song is lovely, but kind of off-putting and I think that is what makes me listen to it over and over again. There's something about it that is a bit askew(in the best possible way).
4) This song probably has one of the best openings ever.
5) The lyrics. I can't even quote passages because...I LOVE THEM ALL. I like that every time I listen to the song, something different stands out...a line becomes my new favourite; or I notice how the words are so perfectly strung together.
6) I think this has become a Spring/early Summer song for me because I've listened to it...probably every day since it was posted.
