No One Does It Like You

Despite the fact that I found the Montreal Contemporary Art Museum to be an utter disappointment when I visited it a few years ago, I did discover two songs that have stuck with me. I already posted the first and it seemed inevitable that I would eventually be posting the second, "No One Does It Like You".
Again, I was introduced to this song through its video. The bizarre and pleasantly unsettling video--in combination with the thumping forward march of the music--made me sit up a little straighter in my plastic folding chair. I instantly had the feeling that I was seeing and hearing something that would be deeply affecting. I like the fact that I first heard this song in a darkened room--save for the flickering light of the movie screen--and with the sound turned up.
I almost wonder what it would have been like to hear this song without seeing the video...would it have made such a lasting impression?
I think so.
The song and video are like two separate and distinct works of art wherein each can be interpreted and enjoyed independently of the other.
"No One Does it Like You" has all the marks of the kind of music I tend to be drawn to--replete with ghostly ooooohs, that killer, heart-squeezing line ("I tried so hard") and a weird, but rhythmic sonic soundscape. I never tire of this song; I'm excited to be sharing it with you.
